Are you ready for winter?
We’re here to help.
You know, fitness is often associated with summertime and looking good on the beach.
But it’s also the key to safe, fun recreation in the wintertime, too.
“Being active is very important for all seasons,” says Dawn, 63, a lifelong skier stays strong at the gym. “There is no off-season for exercise.”
If you like to ski, play hockey, figure skate, or enjoy other winter sports, you know it’s true: You need fit glutes, strong balance, agility, and endurance.
Even if you just want to enjoy the busy holiday season, travel, and possibly navigating snow and ice, the same remains true.
Talk to us about your goals for the season. Some things to remember:
- Go on a few walks each week and take the stairs when you can. Or get in two or three cardio workouts weekly.
- Resistance training for legs. A nice leg circuit will help get you ready for anything.
- Skiing requires a strong core because of all the twisting and leaning forward. Get ready with planks and twists.
Adults 45 and older account for 45% of U.S. skiers and snowboarders, Vail Resorts reported. Senior discounts abound.
And what other sport gets you outside in fresh, clean air amid spectacular mountain scenery?
If you’re a veteran of wintertime sports, you know what fun is waiting. If not, it’s never too late to learn.
