What’s the best kind of exercise to support a longer, healthier life?
Cardio? Stretching? Lifting weights?
Turns out the answer is yes, yes, yes — and more!
That’s according to a major study from Harvard that found that exercise variety influences life expectancy more than any single activity.
Researchers analyzed 30 years of data from more than 100,000 people. They found that the benefits of almost every activity tend to level off after about five to 10 hours per week. People with the broadest mix saw a 19% lower risk of death from any cause. They also had significantly fewer deaths from heart disease, respiratory illness, and cancer.
In other words, variety matters.
It’s part of our philosophy, too.
It keeps your body adapting. It challenges different muscle groups. It prepares you for real life, not just the gym.
We train you for flexibility, to move in different ways, and to be ready for what life brings.
BMJ Medicine reports: “The findings support the notion that promoting engagement in a diverse range of physical activity types, alongside increasing total physical activity levels, may help reduce the risk of premature death.”
